ROBANOV KOT
Robanov kot

Like the neighbouring Logarska Dolina Valley, Robanov Kot was also fashioned by glacial action during the last Ice Age, which left a number of traces including some vast moraine deposits.. The Bela stream, a tributary of the Savinja, springs forth from the lower end of the valley's gravelly central tract, not far from the Roban farmstead. This picturesque Alpine valley was named after the old Roban farmstead and, which was already in the yer 1426 in the land register of the Gornji Grad diocese. One should assume, however, that the Roban family have inhabitet this place much earlier, probably around the year 1000. Robanov kot was in 1987 due to its outstanding natural beauty, proclaimed a regional park.

The valley is squeezed under the summits of Križevnik, Molička Peč, Veliki Vrh, Mala Ojstrica, Kroficka and Strelovec and is due to preservation of the nautral environment closed to traffic. Some splendid hikes and strenuous climbs are possible from Robanov Kot which start past the Roban's meadow with the stable and a fresh water fountain to the dairy cottage in Robanov kot. Many hikers are happy to continue up the path to Korošica and futher on to the summit of Ojstrica, then descending into Logarska dolina. Other hikers prefer to drive up to the two farmsteads overlooking Robanov kot and ascend on Strelovec which offers breathtaking views over the Solčava district.
