IGLA - the NEEDLE

Between Luce and Solčava, above the eastern bank of the Savinja stream, there rises a needle-like column of rock, separated from the rest of the cliff-face by a 2-metre wide gap. From some distance it looks like a needle, that was also the reason for its name. The original route from the lower valley up into the Solčava District once ran through the 'eye of the needle'. Late last century, however, a new road was quarried out of the rock between the obelisk and the river.
