THE SOLČAVA MADONA (in the church of St. Mary of the Snows, Solčava)

This statue is a real treasure of the 15th century Church of Mary of the Snows in Solčava. The small early-Gothic stone sculpture of the Seated Virgin and Child - which is known as the "Solčava Madonna" - dates from 1250 and is set on the Neo-Gothic high altar (by Andrej Cesar).
