The POTOČKA ZIJALKA CAVE

Archaeologically and paleontologically speaking, this 109-metre long cave is one of the most important in Slovenia. It is located beside a mountain trail that leads up towards the western end of the Olševa ridge. It was here in 1928 that Srečko Brodar found the bones of cave bear and tools belonging to Stone Age hunters. These finds, dating from around 30,000 years ago, are today kept in the Regional museum in Celje.

One can learn more about the life of Stone Age hunters in the museum at Firšt Inn a few kilometers before Logarska dolina.
